Mini Lops — like all lop breeds — have compressed skulls that predispose them to dental malocclusion. The shortened jaw alters tooth alignment, causing premolar and molar spurs that lacerate the tongue and inner cheeks, and incisor overgrowth in severely affected animals. Clinical signs include drooling, pawing at the mouth, weight loss, and reluctance to eat. Diagnosis requires full oral examination under anesthesia with dental radiographs ($200–$400). Regular anesthetic dental procedures for filing spurs ($200–$400 per session) are needed every 4–8 weeks in moderate to severe cases. This is a lifelong, recurring condition in genetically predisposed animals.

GI stasis is a medical emergency in which the rabbit's intestinal motility ceases, allowing gas and bacterial toxins to accumulate. Nasal discharge ('snuffles') and sneezing are the most visible signs. The organism is stress-activated — many rabbits carry it subclinically for years. Long-term antibiotic courses manage but rarely cure the infection ($150–$500). Avoiding exposure to unknown rabbits and stress minimizes clinical disease.
